Brother QL-1100 for 4x6 shipping labels

Paper size

Use the Brother DK-11241 shipping-label preset or the closest installed Brother shipping-label size for your region.

Scale

Actual Size / 100%

Source file

The source page is close to ready. Most remaining risk is the Brother roll preset, scale or orientation.

First fix

Print one unpaid test label, scan the barcode with a phone app, then print live postage only after the preview fills the roll cleanly.

Open Brother printer preferences, choose the installed DK shipping-label roll or matching 4x6 size, then keep scale at 100% for a label-sized PDF.

Nothing is uploaded or stored. Use this as a pre-print checklist, then print one unpaid test label before a batch.

Brother 4x6 shipping label paper size and scale

Brother QL shipping-label prints go wrong when the PDF page, Brother roll preset and physical DK roll do not match. For a true 4x6 or 100x150mm shipping label PDF, choose the matching Brother shipping-label paper size and print at Actual Size or 100%.

If the print dialog still says A4, Letter, address label or a DK roll you do not recognise, fix the Brother paper preset before touching the artwork. If you need to compare page sizes, use the shipping label print scale calculator first.

  • Paper size: Brother DK shipping label, 4x6 or 100x150mm.
  • Scale: Actual Size or 100% for a label-sized PDF.
  • Orientation: portrait unless the preview shows sideways output.
  • Quality: use the original carrier PDF instead of a screenshot.

Letter, A4 and multi-label PDFs need a crop first

USPS, Royal Mail, eBay, Etsy, Shopify, AusPost and other shipping workflows can give sellers different PDF layouts. Some files are already one 4x6 label per page. Others put the label on a Letter, A4 or multi-label sheet meant for an office printer.

Do not send the whole office-printer page straight to the Brother QL queue and hope Fit to Page fixes it. Convert the label area into a real 4x6 page with the A4 to 4x6 shipping label converter or check the source file with the shipping label size checker before printing.

Brother DK roll checks before changing the PDF

Brother QL printers are picky about the installed roll. If the driver or Brother utility thinks the wrong DK roll is loaded, the job can fail, offset or scale unexpectedly even when the PDF itself is fine.

Confirm the physical roll, roll guides and driver paper size first. Then print the thermal printer test label PDF to check borders, scale marks and barcode sharpness before using paid postage.

When LabelChop helps with Brother shipping labels

This checker is best for one Brother QL setup or one confusing PDF. LabelChop is for sellers who keep getting awkward shipping-label PDFs and want the crop, resize and print step handled automatically.

LabelChop watches your Downloads folder, detects supported shipping-label PDFs, crops them to 4x6 / 100x150mm and prints or saves them for your thermal printer. It helps with PDFs from carrier and marketplace workflows after you already have the file.

FAQ

What Brother settings should I use for 4x6 shipping labels?

Choose the Brother DK shipping-label roll or matching 4x6 / 100x150mm preset, print at Actual Size or 100%, and avoid Fit to Page.

Why are my Brother QL shipping labels printing too small?

The usual cause is printing an A4, Letter or multi-label PDF directly to the QL printer, or using Fit to Page instead of Actual Size after cropping.

Can Brother QL-1100 and QL-1110NWB print carrier labels?

Yes, when the PDF page and Brother roll preset match the label stock. Carrier and marketplace PDFs may still need cropping or resizing first.

Why does Brother say the wrong DK roll is installed?

Check the physical roll, selected driver paper size and Brother utility status. A roll mismatch can block printing or offset the label.

Is LabelChop an official Brother or carrier integration?

No. LabelChop helps with shipping-label PDFs after you have the file. It is not an official Brother, USPS, Royal Mail or carrier integration.

Printing Brother labels every week?

LabelChop automates the crop-and-print step for recurring shipping-label PDFs, so Brother QL users do not have to fight the same roll and scale settings every day.
